W-READING。

【通用乐理】crescendo(渐强,cresc.)

Reading music: from locating notes to understanding structure

Check these prerequisites in sequence: clefs and natural-note positions, note shapes, rests and durations, then key-signature and local-accidental scope. Each lesson limits clefs, meter and voices; completing these original examples does not establish fluent performance of an unseen score.

Reading connects positions, durations and symbols on a page to sound. This note explains error checks; pitch-name patterns do not replace learning staff lines, spaces and clefs. Prerequisite: names and beat. Begin with clefs, staff steps and natural-note keys. That foundation covers natural notes under fixed treble/bass clefs; key signatures, accidentals and other notation conditions still require their own checks.

[General theory] Sight-reading usually means performing previously unpracticed notation in real time; a brief preview is allowed. The corresponding singing task is specifically sight-singing. Performing a familiar score while looking at it is a different task. Notation carries pitch, timing, voices and expressive relationships together.

[Author's view] NiceChord's piano sight-reading guide connects reference notes, relative intervals, chord shapes and tonal expectations to reduce note-by-note calculation. N-SIGHT: text checked in this task. Its 5-page companion PDF-SR has historical full-page visual-review records. We do not reproduce its exercise sequence or score examples.

[Our synthesis] Locate reading errors at three levels:

  1. Coordinate error: a misread clef, ledger line or accidental. Return to a reliable reference note.
  2. Relationship error: individual notes are recognized, but their chord, voice or rhythm is missed. Check horizontal and vertical relationships.
  3. Execution error: the intended sound is understood, but the hand does not arrive. Investigate fingering and movement.

[General theory] A written second or third first specifies a span of letter names; accidentals determine the semitone distance. The same visual spacing under different key signatures may require different keyboard distances. Shape recognition must include the key signature and local accidentals.

[Author's view] Wiwi's article on why classical musicians use scores presents notation as support for detail and memory, and distinguishes interpreting a fixed work from freely arranging it. Its historical narrative has not been independently checked here. W-READING.

[Our synthesis] Read ahead far enough to prepare the next action; a universal two-bar rule is unnecessary. In accompaniment, preserving pulse, bass and essential melody may come first. Detailed work restores what was simplified. Score these goals separately.

Original check

Write D4 F4 A4 | E4 G4 B4 | F4 A4 C5. Describe it as nine notes, three groups of successive thirds, and three upward-moving triads. Then change the middle group's G to G#4; check whether expectation hides the change. This tests both pattern recognition and its blind spots.

Separate a marking's meaning from its performance curve

[General theory] Crescendo (cresc.) means gradually increasing loudness. It does not prescribe an equal decibel increase for each note, nor staying soft until a sudden final increase. Its span, initial/final dynamics and phrase context shape realization; the marking alone does not specify a complete acoustic curve.

[Comparison] Newly read FOPP-42, physical PDF page 96 (printed 95), favors concentrating change late for expressive effect. Chinese paragraph 7 largely retains this strong claim. It is the author's performance advice, not a replacement for the definition. Relevant dynamic definitions on Musicca's terms page were checked without adopting all its other generalizations.

Each dot adds half of the previous portion

Count a half note as 2 quarter-note units. The first dot adds 1, making 3; the second adds 0.5, making 3.5; the third adds 0.25, making 3.75. Each dot does not add another 1 or another half of the original note. Use the offline dot diagram, then E18.

[General theory] These units compare notated durations; they are not automatically seconds or the beat in every meter. Dots extend one note's duration without adding attacks. Actual sound endings also depend on articulation, pedal and instrument. Relative values and the dot formula on physical scan pages 59–60 were checked; the rest of that chapter remains unread.

[Source limits] Full ASR text of PC-020, handbook physical page 24 and stills at 30/65/116/296 seconds support only this lesson's symbols, note sequences and movement descriptions. Trill and Mordent interpretation depends on period, composer, edition and context; the lesson acknowledges other readings. Fixed four-/three-note patterns, attack dynamics or a 100-repeat goal do not become universal ornament rules.

Do not guess notes from staff position

[Our synthesis] Read through “clef→key signature/accidentals→name and octave→duration→actual key.” A lower staff may use a treble clef. At a mid-passage clef change, re-establish reference positions before continuing. The C-shaped common-time sign means 4/4, not C major. The five section 84 scores now have independent bar-by-bar inspection with U01 retained; this does not establish ambiguity-free or performance acceptance. Use the original reading task sheet to separate prediction, rhythm and checking, without copying source scores or imposing unverified fingering.

Filling the bar is not enough: identify the mark

[Evidence limits] The section 84 coverage imports independent notation reading: 100 printed bars, 200 staff-bars, 680 noteheads, 1 rest and 82 fingering digits, with 199 duration readings resolved. Integration checked identity and aggregates without rereading 680 noteheads. A mark beside RH C5 in No. 58 bar 4 might be a dot or blemish: two half notes total 4 quarter units, but dotting the second yields 5. Conflict prompts review; it cannot decide the original mark. The undotted reading remains provisional pending a clearer same-edition source.

[Our synthesis] Confirm each staff’s current clef. Lower staves 47–49 also use treble; 58 changes to bass at second-ending bar 17, yet its first note is C4. In No. 59, the bass clef after bar 16 governs 17–24, and treble after 24 governs 25–32. A clef change changes the reading reference, not the sounding octave automatically.

Classify numbers as beats, fingers or ending routes. Review-numbered routes for 48/58 are 1–8→9–16→9–15→17, each 24 visits but still 17 printed bars. Across the five scores, 100 printed bars produce 114 visits. First and second endings are alternate routes, not adjacent phrases always played consecutively.

[Our derivation] Original paper task: write one 4/4 bar with C4 quarter, D4 quarter and a half rest; check 1+1+2=4 without assigning a pitch to the rest. If the two notes have an explicitly identified slur, retain two attacks rather than merge distinct pitches into one held tone. Then select an unambiguous bar in your legally held score and separately label clef, duration, numeral roles and curve functions. Record uncertainty instead of forcing an answer. This disclosed example tests no unfamiliar-score transfer, sound, movement or efficacy.
