Playing it now, retaining it later, using it under new conditions

Correctly playing a phrase just repeated does not answer whether you can retrieve it next time. For C4 D4 E4 G4 E4 C4, one beat per note, record today's final attempt, the first attempt next session, and an attempt starting at G4 separately.

Learn beat and note names, then try E12. These questions concern immediate performance, retention and transfer. They are observation tasks here, not guarantees of learning effects.

Questions raised by the sources

[Author's view] FOPP-23 distinguishes immediate practice changes from changes after stopping and calls the latter PPI, Post Practice Improvement. Its English section was read; relevant actual PDF text on physical pages 52–55 was checked. Its opening printed label is 51. This distinction invites checking more than the final attempt.

[Author's view] FOPP-14 recommends entering at different remembered locations and using structural cues to check memory. Relevant physical pages 32/36 were checked. Wiwi's view of scores reducing memory burden appears in reading. These approaches must not become a universal rule to stop using notation once a piece is learned.

Make the record interpretable

[Our synthesis] Record score access, prior reference sound, start, speed, error locations and extra pauses. Test once before practicing again next session; otherwise warm-up enters the result. Give changed starts/registers separate rows rather than treating them as retention under identical conditions.

[Our synthesis] A better or worse attempt can still reflect cues, familiarity, energy or measurement. Two personal attempts do not establish that sleep caused improvement or that a physiological mechanism is valid. A practice log generates the next question rather than replacing mechanism research.

Guarantees not adopted

[Evidence limits] Section 23 makes specific claims about uniform practice minutes, minimum repetition, cell changes, sleep removing bad habits and sleep-inducing breathing. Independent scientific/medical verification is unfinished. These explanations, thresholds and breathing procedures are not beginner prescriptions here. PPI remains the author's term, not an established single physiological process.

A changed result does not identify its cause

[Author's view] FOPP-27 calls poorer performance after fast playing FPD and recommends practice changes; its mechanism is the author's hypothesis. Wiwi's practice article advises against endless repetition of one item and makes strong claims about improvement after sleep.

[Our synthesis] Record tempo, starting point, errors and access to cues at the end of one session and the start of the next. Otherwise the comparison is unclear. Lack of immediate improvement after rest or switching material does not establish failure from a single result. We promise no overnight improvement and do not diagnose hand/brain confusion. Return to E12.

An idea still needs a result check

[Author's view] FOPP-72 uses personal problem-solving experiences to discuss ideas arising after deliberate effort stops. Selected Chinese passages broadly retain the meaning. Statistical and neural claims, such as half of people's subconscious being smarter, are not established here and do not follow from those anecdotes.

[Our synthesis] When stuck, record the specific join, tempo and observed attempt. If a new approach comes later, test it against the same goal and record the difference. The idea may help or fail; a follow-up result alone does not establish which brain mechanism caused it.
