W-TRANSPOSE。

A B C D E F G A;和声小调为 A B C D E F G# A。 A B C D E F# G# A,下行 A G F E D C B A。

先比较 D E F G A Bb C D 与 D E F G A B C D:只改了第六级,Bb变B。

【通用乐理/原创纸上自查】先写 C D E F G A B 与 A B C D E F G,圈出各自约定的中心C与A。

Scales and modes: put materials in context

You can make a tiny phrase using only D, F and A. Change its rests or ending and the same notes make a different phrase. Make these choices before naming scales and modes. Prerequisites: note names, intervals. Dorian is 多利亚调式; Aeolian is 爱奥利亚调式.

[General theory] A scale lists pitch material; a mode also involves a center and intervals relative to that center. Starting C-major white notes on D does not automatically make D sound like the center of D Dorian. Sustained bass, endings and melodic emphasis affect that perception.

[Author's view] PDF-IV, pp. 5–17, gradually adds pitch choices while emphasizing rhythm, space and perceived tension. Its p. 17 introduces chord/mode associations, but also uses one tonal collection across a passage. It does not require a new scale whenever a chord changes.

[Our synthesis] Separate improvisation decisions into temporal phrases, chordal arrival notes and available register. Stabilize two and change the third to make the effect of a change easier to assess.

Same-tonic comparison: our original material

Over the minor-seventh chord D–F–A–C, compare phrases containing B and Bb:

  • D4 F4 A4 B4 A4 F4 D4
  • D4 F4 A4 Bb4 A4 F4 D4

[General theory] The first highlights Dorian's major sixth; the second highlights Aeolian's minor sixth. This compares a local color, without claiming that one phrase establishes a whole work's mode. Keep rhythm, loudness and bass the same to isolate the changed note.

Check notation against hearing

[Author's view] Wiwi's text-transposer article emphasizes interval spelling beyond keyboard semitone positions. W-TRANSPOSE.

[General theory] Transposing Db upward by a major third reaches the letter F; checking four semitones gives F. Transposing D# upward by a major third requires F##. Equal keyboard pitch in twelve-tone equal temperament does not make different spellings harmonically equivalent.

[Our synthesis] Ear training should ask more than whether a note name was recognized: can the relationship be sung, reproduced in another key and explained in notation? Absolute-pitch memory and relative hearing are separate dimensions. Unverified promises about everyone succeeding or the fastest method are not treated as established findings.

How scale familiarity transfers

[Author's view] “How to practice scales” places fixed ascending/descending patterns among many arrangements found in actual works. N-SCALES-PRACTICE: full article text read; score-example audio not played.

[Our synthesis] An even ascent from the tonic does not establish fluency in turning from any note, arriving on a chosen chord tone or maintaining another voice. Keep one key and an original phrase, then vary entry, direction and rhythm separately. Record which condition causes a pause. One successful fixed scale does not replace those checks.

Begin with choice and feedback

[Author's view] Opening ASR candidates and frames at 20/50 seconds of IV-001 support beginning with fewer pitch choices. Frames at 25/42/60/70 seconds of IV-002 and handbook p. 6 support observing one's habits. Frames at 15/48/65/82/93 seconds of IV-003 and handbook p. 7 support deliberately expanding rhythmic material. This is limited cross-checking of complete ASR text, handbook and 30 still frames, without listening verification or full moving-video review.

[Our synthesis] Separate generating material from reviewing habits. Keep one clear constraint while generating; review one observable measure afterward. Change just that measure next time to check habitual answers. This organization can also support melody writing and accompaniment design.

Name, pitch collection and fingering are separate answers

[Author's view] Newly read FOPP-29 connects key signatures, relative major/minor and common fingerings. Relevant actual PDF text on pages 69–71 and Chinese paragraphs 4–6 were checked. Following fingering tables are not thereby fully visually verified; naming history and keyboard-design judgments remain the author's account.

[General theory] Ascending A natural minor is A B C D E F G A; harmonic minor is A B C D E F G# A. A common classical melodic-minor exercise ascends A B C D E F# G# A and descends A G F E D C B A. Name the collection and context. Minor is not one fixed list, and this exercise convention is not imposed on every style.

[Our synthesis] Correct pitches and fingering that connects in context are separate tests. A one-octave endpoint fingering does not automatically fit a multi-octave continuation. Record entry, direction, endpoint and surrounding voices.

Inspect one difference before naming the whole passage

Compare D E F G A Bb C D with D E F G A B C D: only degree six changes, from Bb to B. The first is the D-natural-minor collection; the second is D Dorian. Use the scale-difference diagram, then return to the same-tonic phrases above. Identifying a collection differs from judging a passage's tonal center.

[Author's view] OCR text of PDF-NC-BOOK physical pages 31–45 was read, with images of pages 32/36/42/45 checked. These cover major/minor, minor variants and some modern modes. Page 45 begins the next chapter; that chapter is not complete. Song, historical and prevalence claims were not all independently verified. We do not recreate its mnemonic, song scores or narrative sequence.

[General theory] Equally spaced semitone marks do not represent equal frequency increments in hertz (Hz). In twelve-tone equal temperament, equal semitone intervals have equal frequency ratios; the Hz difference for one semitone increases in higher registers. Calling the semitone scale a frequency number line on scan page 32 can confuse these two axes.

[Our synthesis] Major-happy/minor-sad can describe an author's response, but is not an identification algorithm. Likewise, the familiar ascending/descending melodic-minor exercise is not a ban on raised sixths and sevenths in descending classical passages. Check local harmony, melodic direction and the actual score. The diagram names the collections it shows without claiming that a whole work must use only one of them.

[Comparison] The years of waiting proposed in FOPP-44 should not become a prerequisite for beginning to create. NiceChord's improvisation article emphasizes choices within existing material and constraints. Try a short phrase with a beginning and ending using a few familiar pitches, then check whether it meets the goal. This is our beginner task, not mastery of all improvisational styles. Reading the article does not establish its career, historical or stress-relief claims.

A shared pitch collection still needs a center and context

[General theory] D major pentatonic can be written D E F# A B; B minor pentatonic can be written B D E F# A. They share pitch classes but have different centers. Reading the list from B alone does not establish B as the center of a whole passage. Pentatonic means five distinct pitch classes per octave, not one culture or a single fixed formula.

[Source limits] Scan text on physical pages 46–60 was read. The image of page 54 confirms an E misread by OCR; C Mixolydian and the minor-seventh symbol on page 49 were visually checked. Style, emotion, prevalence, song-analysis and cultural-origin claims are not all independently verified. Stacked pure fifths are a pitch construction, not proof of every culture's history; a pure 3:2 fifth and an equal-tempered fifth are not identical frequency ratios. Over a chord, consider melodic emphasis, duration and context rather than assuming every scale member always gives the desired effect.

Shared material, a different center, and one raised note

[General theory / original paper self-check] Write C D E F G A B and A B C D E F G, circling their stipulated centers C and A. The seven pitch classes match but the centers differ: an entry point to relative keys, not enharmonic respelling. Change G in the second collection to G♯ to obtain the material of A harmonic minor; distinguish the key relationship from the particular scale form. A collection alone does not prove which center an actual work establishes.

With semitone/spelling prerequisites, check G♯ minor’s seventh degree on paper. Its natural form is F♯; raising it one semitone gives F double sharp, sharing G’s key in twelve-tone equal temperament while retaining the letter F for degree7. Answer: F♯ to G♯ spans2 semitones; F double sharp to G♯ spans1. A double sharp raises the natural note by2 semitones, not the already-sharp note by another2. Do not force this collection into a single-hand playing task.

[Source corrections] FOPP section29 entry6 conflates relative and natural minor; an added Chinese demonstration misuses enharmonic; table1.2’s G♯ row on physical72/printed71 misspells the raised seventh. See Q-094/Q-095/Q-098. The60 English table cells have independent inspection, but missing Chinese counterparts leave0/60 bilingual cells; this example is not a reconstructed translation table.

See the original scale companion: check spelling and signatures across seven steps and eight positions, separating source finger patterns, ending context and individual performance suitability. Exclude the unresolved B-major left-hand string from one-to-one paper matching.
